Non-caffeinated hot beverages, flushed with super foods

There is a new beverage in town and it doesn’t involve the usual suspects caffeine or alcohol. Just Juice, located at 710 University Ave. in Rochester, known until now for cold juice drinks, has ventured out into hot beverage territory, offering a variety of health infused experiments to heat you up this winter. Their Spicychaga Hot Chocolate features a mushroom concentrate called adaptogenic chaga – which gets inside you and adapts to what your body needs.

“If you need to calm you down, it will have a soothing effect, if you need more energy it will match that, it will mimic giving you energy without the caffeine,” described a Just Juice staff member.

They get their chaga from a local Buffalo company – Life Itself, which provides this description of chaga on its website:

Known as “The King of Medicinal Mushrooms,” used for thousands of years in traditional Eastern medicine, this mushroom is packed with 215+ vitamins (Including a vegan nutritional source of vitamin D2), minerals (fundamental building blocks of life which are now hard to get naturally, even in a healthy diet) and phytochemicals (assisting in a myriad of cell functions). It is known to be adaptogenic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and so much more. Chaga is also a rich source of Melanin, which is largely present in the skin, hair, and eyes, and helpful for proper functioning of the Pineal Gland.

Another hot beverage offered by Just Juice is called Golden Elixer, which involves coconut, filtered H20, maple, cinnamon, maca, sea salt, vanilla, lucuma, cardamom, turmeric, pepper, ginger and in case that was not enough, the final ingredient is ‘lots of love’. All the ingredients are organic and many are anti-inflammatory.

“It’s like having a smoothie, but warm,” said the staff member.
